SOLITARY KIDNEY

Solitary kidney is a condition where one kidney is absent, so instead of having two kidneys there one kidney present, due to one absent kidney; also known as a solitary kidney, renal dysplasia or renal agenesis.

This condition may be diagnosed for the first time during the pregnancy and discovered on  a routine scan.

A baby with a normal single kidney should have regular medical check ups with a specialist doctor, to check on the kidney normal growth and development.
